NEW BRUNSWICK
REGULATION 2012-88
under the
Electrical Installation and Inspection Act
(O.C. 2012-323)

Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 84-165 under the
Electrical Installation and Inspection Act
is amended by repealing the definition “Code” and substituting the following:
“Code”
means the CSA Standard C22.1-12, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (Twenty-second Edition), Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, including all errata, with the exception of Rule 6-302(1)(c) and with the following modifications:

Rule 6-104 is replaced by the following:

The number of consumer’s services of the same voltage and characteristic, terminating at any one supply service, run to, on, or in any building, shall not exceed six, unless there is a deviation allowed in accordance with Rule 2-030;
(

Rule 6-206(1)(e) is replaced by the following:

(1)(c)
Subject to subrule (3), placed within the building being served as close as practicable to the point where the consumer’s service conductors enter the building, but in no case shall this distance exceed 5 m and may not be located in:
(i)
coal bins, clothes closets, bathrooms and stairways;
(ii)
rooms where the ambient temperatures exceed 30
o
C under normal conditions;
(iii)
dangerous or hazardous conditions;
(iv)
locations where the headroom clearance is less than 2 m; or
(v)
any similar location.

the following Rule 34-106(3) is added:

Portable outdoor signs shall be provided with a factory-installed ground fault circuit interrupter which is integral to the attachment plug or a portable ground fault circuit interrupter installed within 600 mm of the attachment plug;

d
)
Rule 76-004 is replaced by the following:
76-004
The grounding requirements for temporary services shall be in accordance with section 10 of the Code, with the exception of the ground electrode, which may consist of a single 3 m ground rod;
